Marilyn O’Bruba informed the committee of the procedures related to student-athlete registration for classes each semester:

-         A  list of student-athletes is sent to registration

-         Registration times are assigned by the Registrar’s Office.  Student-athletes are given priority (early) registration times but are only one of many student groups who receive such priority registration.  The other groups include: BSMS students, University Scholars and students employed on-campus.

12. With regards to procedures for monitoring missed class time by athletes, the following procedures are followed:

  • The Academic Athletic Advisors take anticipated missed class time into account  when advising student-athletes for future semesters

  • The advisors compile a list of days each student will miss during the upcoming semester

  • Student-athletes are given a letter listing missed class days to give to each instructor.  Schedules may be adjusted based upon the reaction of the instructor

  • The advisors keep an individual list for each student of missed class days.

  • Reports of missed class days for each athletic team are submitted to the Associate AD who in turn shares them with the IAC

    • Minutes from IAC meetings are contained in Attachment 46

13. With regards to missed class time determined to be significant or excessive in any sport.
