Meeting Notes
Present:
Cyndy Anderson, Elaine Jacobs, Jane Kestner, Tom Maraffa, Jimmy Myers, Ron
Strollo, David Sweet
The meeting
began at 2:03 p.m.
The
Introduction to the Self Study was approved by the Steering Committee.
Jane
Kestner, chair of Academic Subcommittee, provided an update of the progress made
by the subcommittee. They met five times during fall semester and have
completed a review of all self study items in both Operating Principles.
The academic subcommittee was provided a draft of the final report and all input
has been included. A draft of the approved subcommittee report was
provided to the Steering Committee, along with the NCAA Self Study Checklist for
Academic Integrity for their review and feedback.
Tom Maraffa,
chair of the Governance and Rules Compliance Subcommittee, provided an update of
progress made by the subcommittee. They met four times during fall
semester and have completed review of all self study items in both Operating
Principles. The governance subcommittee was provided a draft of the final
report and all input has been included. A draft of the approved
subcommittee report was provided to the Steering Committee, along with the NCAA
Self Study Checklist for Governance and Commitment to Rules Compliance for their
review and feedback..
The Steering
Committee will meet again Monday, February 20 at 2:00 p.m. in the President’s
Conference Room to receive a final draft of the Student-Athlete Welfare section.
The committee will be asked to review and provide any input to the final draft
prior to the March 2nd Board of Trustees meeting. The Self
Study will be presented at the Board of Trustees meeting. In addition,
Jane Kestner will provide updates to the Academic Senate in March or April.
