Football:
GSU Offense To Much For Penguins
Youngstown --
Georgia Southern used a 28-point second quarter to
cruise to a 59-24 win over YSU in
the Division I-AA title game at
Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Penguins jumped out to a 14-10 second-quarter lead on
touchdown runs by senior tailback
Adrian Brown and sophomore
quarterback Jeff Ryan. After that,
the Penguins could only watch as the
Eagles scored 28 unanswered points,
including a 72-yard punt return for
a touchdown that put Georgia
Southern up 38-14 at the half.
Brown closed out an outstanding career by adding a
fourth-quarter touchdown run and
finished with 160 yards. The Eagles
put up 639 yards on the ground on 61
carries and 656 yards of total
offense. Junior fullback Adrian
Peterson led the way scoring three
touchdowns. |
