93 Yard Drive Lifts Penguins Over Indiana
State
TERRE HAUTE, IN -
For the first time in YSU history, the Penguins
moved to 2-0 in the Gateway
Conference with a 31-28,
come-from-behind victory over
Indiana State in Terre Haute,
Indiana.
The Penguins move to 4-1 overall and are tied with Illinois
State atop the Gateway at 2-0.
For the second straight game, the Penguins were forced
to pull off fourth-quarter magic.
YSU moved 93 yards in 14 plays in
just 2:58 to take a 31-28 lead with
just over 2:41 to play in the game.
Senior fullback Adrian Brown capped
off the long drive with a
three-yard run, his first three
touchdown game of his career.
After a Penguins punt with 1:33 to play, the Sycamores
drove to the YSU 37-yard line, but
Mike Megyesi missed a 54 yard field
goal with six seconds left to
preserve the Penguin victory.
"Our kids dug deep tonight. We are not the most
talented team, but we continue to
fight and would not quit." said YSU
head coach Jim Tressel.
For the Second straight game, YSU sophomore quarterback
Jeff Ryan led the Penguin offensive
attack, accounting for 263 total
yards offense. Ryan completed
13-of-26 passes for 173 yards and
ran 18 times for 90 yards and a
touchdown.
Senior wide reciever Renuald Ray moved to seventh
all-time on the YSU recieving list,
catching the ball four times for 64
yards, his first receptions of the
season.
The Penguins will be at Southern Illinois next Saturday
at 2:30 p.m. |
