Football: Penguins Travel to Illinois State
The No. 2 (Sports Network/Coaches) Youngstown
State Penguins conclude a grueling
three-game road stint playing
against Illinois State at Hancock
Stadium in Normal, Ill., on
Saturday, Oct. 7. Kickoff for the
televised game begins at 3:30 p.m.
central time, 4:30 p.m. in
Youngstown. YSU has won seven
straight road games entering the ISU
contest.
The Penguins enter the game with a 4-0 record, the
third time under Coach Jim Tressel
that YSU has opened a year with four
wins. It is also the ninth 4-0 start
in the school’s 60-year history. In
the two years where Tressel squads
have started 4-0 they have finished
with 11 and 13 wins and one national
title.
But this contest will not be easy for the Penguins, who are
1-3 in Normal. The last trip to
Hancock Stadium on Nov. 14, 1998,
resulted in a 48-14 defeat, the
second-worst loss for YSU under
Tressel. Last year, ISU pulled out a
31-28 squeaker at Stambaugh Stadium
in a game that decided the
conference championship. |
