Football: YSU Ranks 15th, 16th in Final Polls
Youngstown -- The Youngstown State football team
finished the 2001 football season
ranked 15th in the final Sports
Network poll and the 16th in the
final ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll,
which were released earlier this
week.
The Penguins, who finished the year with an 8-3 mark,
finished in the top 20 in both polls
for the third consecutive season.
Montana, a 13-6 winner over Furman
in the NCAA Division I-AA
Championship game, placed first in
both polls. From the Gateway
Football Conference, Northern Iowa
finished fourth in both polls while
Western Kentucky finished 10th in
the Coaches poll and 12th in the
Sports Network.
