Football: Penguins Add Bob Perez to Football Class
Youngstown -- The Youngstown State football team has
added a 20th member to its 2003 signing class by adding strong safety/linebacker
Bob Perez of Massillon Perry High School, Coach Jon Heacock announced recently.
The 6-0, 210-pound Perez played quarterback and on defense
for Perry this past year leading the team to a 10-2 mark and appearance in the
regional semifinals. He was an honorable-mention all-district and All-Federal
League pick for the Panthers.
Perez is the 17th member of the 20-person class who plays on
the defensive side of the ball. He is also the eighth student-athlete from Ohio
to sign with the Penguins.

High School: Perez played quarterback and strong safety at Perry...his
senior year he helped lead the Panthers to a 10-2 mark and a regional semifinal
appearance against Massillon...Perry lost 23-21 in that contest...was an
honorable-mention all-district and All-Federal League selection...was a team
captain as a senior and earned three letters...in 2001 his team went 7-3...his
sophomore year, Perry was 12-2 losing to Solon in the state semifinals...earned
a Sportsmanship Award...coach was Keith Wakefield...also played baseball and was
a first-team All-Federal League selection as a junior...was a member of the
honor roll and earned four Scholastic Achievement Awards. Personal:
