Football: Coaching Staff Announces WIU Game Award Winners
Youngstown -- Junior
quarterback Matt Rycraft (Offense),
junior defensive end Matt Briggs
(Defense) and sophomore long snapper
Tanner Dunlap (Special Teams) earned
Player of the Game honors by the
Youngstown State coaching staff.
Rycraft came off the bench to set a school record for rushing
yards by a quarterback with 152
against the Leathernecks. He also
scored two touchdowns. Briggs had
three solo stops, including a
16-yard sack of Russ Michna.
Earning Jim Zdelar Offensive Lineman-of-the-Game honors was
redshirt freshman center Ryan Jewell
while senior defensive tackle Steve
Durbin was the Jermaine Hopkins
Defensive Lineman of the Game.
Quarterback Ryan Wisecarver (offense), cornerback Bob Perez
(defense) and wide receiver Dustin
Helle (special teams) all earned
Scout Team Player of the Week
awards.
Junior wide receiver Philip Larmon had the W.O.W./Derek
Pixley Hit of the Week while Rycraft
was also the Haines Family Player of
the Game.
The Penguins are back in action on Saturday when they travel
to Indiana State. |
