Football: Zetts and Terry Named to All-Newcomer Team
St. Louis, Mo. -- The Youngstown State football team
placed two individuals on the
Gateway Football Conference's
All-Newcomer squad, the league
announced on Wednesday. Redshirt
freshman quarterback Tom Zetts
(Boardman, Ohio) and redshirt
freshman linebacker James Terry
(Stafford, Va.) were named to the
team.
Zetts, who started all 11 games at quarterback, completed
154-of-255 passes for 1,822 yards
and a completion percentage of 60.4.
He threw 16 touchdown passes on the
season while just throwing four
interceptions. His total
completions, completion percentage,
passing efficiency and number of
touchdown passes were all freshman
school marks.
Terry, who transferred from Virginia prior to the season,
improved throughout the year. In six
Gateway games played, he had 46
total tackles, third-most on the
team. A reserve to start the season,
Terry started the final four games
as an outside linebacker. For the
year, he made 71 total tackles and
tied for the team lead with two
forced fumbles. |
