Award Winners Announced For Illinois State Game
Youngstown --
Junior tailback Josh Cayson, senior
strong safety Mike Bracken and
junior linebacker Justin Scholes
were named the Hill Barth & King
Players of the Game for their
efforts in YSU's 30-24 loss at
Illinois State this past Saturday.
Cayson was the offensive selection after rushing for a
season-high 146 yards on a
career-best 25 carries. He also had
a 13-yard touchdown run in the third
quarter. Bracken was credited with
five tackles for the game to be
tabbed the defensive player of the
game and Scholes was selected as the
Special Teams Player of the Game.
Senior Norris Kennedy was named the Jim Zdelar Offensive
Lineman of the Game. Kennedy played
both guard and tackle against the
Redbirds. Junior defensive end
Brandon Brown was selected as the
Jermaine Hopkins Defensive Lineman
of the Game. Brown finished the game
with six tackles and added a fumble
recovery.
Earning scout team player-of-the-week accolades for their
contributions prior to the contest
were freshman tight end Chris Kenney
(offense), redshirt freshman
linebacker Tim Dewberry (defense)
and freshman defensive back Chris
Russo (special teams).
Cayson was selected as the Haines Family Player of the Game
by the YSU broadcast crew.
This Saturday, the Penguins return to Stambaugh Stadium for
the final time this season when they
play host to Indiana State. Kickoff
is set for 4 p.m. |
