Norris Kennedy Named Lineman of the Week
St. Louis, Mo. -- Youngstown State senior offensive
guard Norris Kennedy (Lake Wales,
Fla.) was named the Gateway Football
Conference's Offensive Lineman of
the Week, the league announced on
Tuesday.
Kennedy has had a winning-performance grade from the coaching
staff the past three weeks for his
performances against Illinois State,
Indiana State and Western Illinois.
Against the Leathernecks on
Saturday, Kennedy started for just
the second time this season in the
Penguins' impressive 34-9 victory.
At WIU, Kennedy posted an 85-percent grade helping two YSU
tailbacks rush for more than 100
yards in the game -- Monquantae
Gibson had 167 while Regis Edgerson
had 104. It was the first time YSU
had two backs over 100 yards in a
game since November 2002 against
Southern Illinois.
As a team, YSU picked up a season-best 284 yards rushing on a
season-high 59 attempts.
Kennedy, a full-time starter in 2003, has played in just five
contests this season after missing
the first five with a back injury. |
