Staff Announces Western Kentucky Award Winners
Youngstown -- Sophomore tight end Shawn Carlson,
senior defensive tackle Matt Briggs
and sophomore kickoff returner Tyler
Morton earned Hill Barth & King
Player-of-the-Game honors for their
roles in Saturday's contest at
Western Kentucky, the coaching staff
announced on Tuesday.
Carlson was the Hill Barth & King Offensive Player of the
Game after finishing the contest
with a career-high six catches for
43 yards. Briggs, the Defensive
Player of the Game, had a solid game
on the defensive front and recorded
two solo tackles. Morton, the
Special Teams Player of the Game,
averaged 33 yards on three kickoff
returns, including a busting a
career-high 39-yarder.
Sophomore offensive tackle Pat Walker was named the Jim
Zdelar Offensive Lineman of the Game
for the second time this season.
Junior defensive tackle Ron
John-Finn was the Jermaine Hopkins
Defensive Lineman of the Game.
Earning weekly scout team award accolades were sophomore
offensive tackle Erik Claxon
(offense), sophomore cornerback
Antaun Rose (defense) and redshirt
freshman fullback Joe Nicholson
(special teams).
Senior strong safety Mike Bracken was selected as the Haines
Family Player of the Game by the
Youngstown State radio crew. Junior
long snapper Tanner Dunlap was
earned the W.O.W./Derek Pixley Hit
of the Week on a punt coverage. |
