Football: Jackson Picks Up Two More All-America Honors; YSU 11th in
Attendance
Youngstown -- Youngstown State junior cornerback
Codera Jackson picked two more
second-team All-America honors on
Wednesday, while the Penguins ended
the year ranked 11th in Division
I-AA average attendance.
Jackson was tabbed a second-team All-American by The
Associated Press on Wednesday and
also received second-team
All-America honors from the Sports
Xchange, which is compiled by NFL
Draft Scout online.
Earlier in the week, Jackson was a second-team All-America
selection by The Sports Network.
A first-team All-Gateway and
All-Newcomer Team selection, Jackson
was credited with 50 total tackles,
including 32 solo stops. He also had
four pass breakups and a forced
fumble. Of his six interceptions, he
had 103 yards in returns, including
a 72-yarder for a touchdown at
Liberty.
Jackson transferred to YSU from Alfred State College before
the fall and made an instant impact
starting all 11 games in 2005. In
2004, he was an honorable-mention
NJCAA All-American.
Also with the completion of the 2005 Division I-AA home
schedule last Saturday following the
playoff semifinals games, Youngstown
State ranked 11th in Division I-AA
in average attendance, according to
figures released by the NCAA.
For six home games during the year, YSU averaged 14,544 fans
per contest. That number led the
Gateway Football Conference for the
eighth consecutive season.
Montana led Division I-AA schools averaging 22,479 fans a
game. |
