Football: Perez, Jewell Named Second-Team Academic All-District

Youngstown – Senior center Ryan Jewell (Warren, Ohio) and junior strong safety Bob Perez (Navarre, Ohio) were named second-team CoSIDA Academic All-District IV, the organization announced on Thursday.

Jewell was also a second-team academic all-district selection last season while Perez was named to the team for the first time.

Jewell, a four-year starter and 2006 team captain, maintains a 3.36 grade-point average in mechanical engineering. He has started all 10 games at center this season and currently YSU ranks fourth in Division I-AA in rushing yards per game.

Perez has appeared in all 10 games this season, starting four contests. He has 19 total tackles and is third on the team with two interceptions. Perez maintains a 3.88 GPA as an Economics major.
