Announce Award Winners in Rematch
With Illinois State
Senior offensive tackle Patrick
Walker, senior linebacker Marty
Hutchinson and sophomore long
snapper Mike Barlak were named the
Hill Barth & King Players of the
Game in the Penguins 28-21
quarterfinal playoff victory over
Illinois State.
Walker, the HBK Offensive Player of the Game, graded out at a
season-high 91 percent in the
victory over the Redbirds. In the
two playoff games, the YSU offensive
line has been solid not allowing a
sack.
Hutchinson, the HBK Defensive Player of the Game, finished
with seven total tackles, including
six solo stops. He had a tackle for
a five-yard loss and also
intercepted a pass, his first pick
since his freshman year.
Barlak, the HBK Special Teams Player
of the Game, snapped on four
extra-point attempts and four punts
during Saturday’s contest.
Senior center Ryan Jewell was named
the Jim Zdelar Offensive Lineman of
the Game while senior defensive
tackle Greg Jacobs was tabbed the
Jermaine Hopkins Defensive Lineman
of the Game. Jacobs was credited
with four solo tackles during the
game.
Earning scout team honors for their
performances during the week were
freshman quarterback Todd Rowan
(offense), freshman defensive end
Chris Gammon (defense) and junior
wide receiver Ferlando Williams
(special teams).
Senior linebacker Jeff Koval was
named the Haines Family Player of
the Game by the YSU radio broadcast
crew. Koval had six solo tackles,
including four for losses and one
sack. |
