Football: Brian
Palmer Named Gateway's Special Teams
Player of the Week

Louis, Mo. –
Junior placekicker Brian Palmer was
named the Gateway Football
Conference's Special Teams Player of
the Week, the league announced on
Sunday.
Palmer kicked three field goals in
the Penguins' 27-22 loss to Illinois
State on Saturday. In the first
quarter he converted kicks of 37 and
41 yards before connecting on a
40-yarder in the third quarter.
It was the second consecutive game
in which Palmer made three field
goals. He converted three tries the
previous week versus Southern Utah.
For the year, Palmer is 9-of-10 on
field goals and dating back to last
season has made 12 of his last 13
tries. He is 26-of-27 on point-after
kicks this year as well.
In his career, he is 28-of-37 on
field-goal attempts and 116-of-123
on PATs. He ranks third in school
history in PATs made and attempted.
He ranks fifth with his 28 made
field goals.
Northern Iowa's entire offensive
line was selected as the GFC
Offensive Players of the Week for
their performance in the Panthers'
impressive 42-3 win at Western
Illinois. Illinois State linebacker
Kye Stewart was tabbed the Defensive
Player of the Week for his efforts
against the Penguins. |
