Football: Bush, Terry, Chenault Named HBK Players of the Game Against
SDSU
Junior tight end Derrick
Bush, senior linebacker James Terry
and senior free safety Dorian
Chenault were named the YSU Hill
Barth & King Players of the Game for
their performances in the 23-17 win
over South Dakota State, the
coaching staff announced.
Bush was named the HBK Offensive
Player of the Game after finishing
with two receptions for 24 yards.
Both of his grabs (19 and five
yards) came on third-down plays.
Terry was named the HBK Defensive Player of the Game after
being credited with five total
tackles, including four solo stops.
He had two tackles for 12 yards in
losses, including a 10-yard sack.
Chenault was named the HBK Special
Teams Player of the Game. In the
first quarter, he burst through the
Jackrabbits punt protection blocking
YSU's first punt since 2003. Vince
Gliatta scooped up the subsequent
block and ran it in for a touchdown.
Junior guard Brad Samsa was tabbed
the Jim Zdelar Offensive Lineman of
the Game while senior defensive end
Maurice Smith was selected as the
Jermaine Hopkins Defensive Lineman
of the Game.
Earning Scout Team honors for their
work during the week were freshman
offensive lineman Greg Sazdanoff
(offense), sophomore cornerback
Andre Elliott (defense) and
linebacker John Sasson (special
teams).
Gliatta earned the W.O.W./Derek
Pixley Hit of the Game for the
second consecutive week.
Earning the Haines Family
Player-of-the-Game honor from the
YSU radio broadcast crew was wide
receiver Ferlando Williams.
Senior offensive tackle Matt Kishman
was selected as the recipient of the
Wachovia Leadership Award.
The Penguins return to action on
Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium
against Stony Brook. Kickoff is set
for 4 p.m. |
