Football: Guins Picked Sixth in FCS Preseason Coaches Poll

The Youngstown State football team
garnered its second top 10 preseason
ranking in as many weeks when it was
picked sixth in the Football
Championship Subdivision (FCS)
Preseason Coaches Poll release on
Monday. The two-time Gateway
Conference defending champion
Penguins tallied 550 points .
Two-time
defending national champion
Appalachian State received 27 out of
a possible 28 first-place votes
while Montana, which is ranked
second, picked up 656 votes.
UMass picked up one first-place
votes and 612 points for a
third-place ranking.
North Dakota State and New Hampshire
round out the top five at fourth and
fifth with 609 and 559 points,
respectively.
Fellow Gateway Conference schools
Illinois State and UNI ranked eighth
and ninth with 471 and 424 points,
respectively, while Southern
Illinois just missed the top 10 with
406 points and is ranked 11th.
South Dakota, YSU's Sept. 8
opponent, picked up 198 points and
is ranked 19th.
