YSU Class to Host Coach Coin Fundraiser at Saturday's Football Game

    Youngstown -- "Team Coin," a public relations class at YSU, will hold a fundraising event for Coach Shawn Coin's family in conjunction with the Penguins' homecoming football game this Saturday against Northern Iowa.
    The fundraiser will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the M-24 tailgating lot.
    Coin, YSU's video coordinator, passed away suddenly at the age of 31 earlier this fall on Aug. 18, 2008.
    To assist his wife Jennifer and his family, "Team Coin" will host tailgaters with auctions of several gift baskets, a Coin Football toss and food with donations appreciated.
    Members of "Team Coin" will also be walking around the tailgate lot and will be stationed at the gates of Stambaugh Stadium accepting donations and giving out information about Coach Coin. "Team Coin" has set the goal of  raising $5,000 for the Coin family.
    "The class wanted to do this project because Coach Coin gave so much to YSU," said Carrie Wack, a senior hospitality management major who is serving as co-team leader. "We can't pay him back, but we can pay his family forward for everything that Coach did for YSU."
