Football:
Lane, Ross, Wilson Named HBK Players
of the Game Against Sycamores

fullback Ben Lane, sophomore strong
safety Brandian Ross and senior
corner/punt returner De'Angelo
Wilson were named the Hill Barth and
King Players of the Game for their
performances in Saturday's 35-21
victory against Indiana State, the
YSU coaching staff announced this
week.
Lane was named the HBK Offensive
Player of the Game following a
career-best performance. Lane rushed
10 times for 38 yards and a
touchdown. For Lane it was a
career-high in carries and yards. He
scored his second career touchdown
on a two-yard run in the first
quarter. It was his first score
since finding paydirt in 2006
against the Sycamores.
Ross was tabbed the HBK Defensive
Player of the Game after recording
six total tackles against ISU. Ross
had three solo stops, including a
tackle for loss and quarterback
hurry. Ross played all 60 snaps and
earned a grade of 92 percent from
the coaching staff.
Wilson was selected as the HBK
Special Teams Player of the Game.
Wilson returned two punts for 39
yards, including a long of 25. He
also had his first career kickoff
return which went for 36 yards.
Wilson now has 500 yards in career
punt return yards, second most in
school history.
Senior tight end Derrick Bush was named Jim Zdelar Offensive
Lineman of the Game. Bush caught two
passes for 14 yards in his final
home game. He played 75 snaps
earning a season-high grade of 94
percent.
Senior defensive tackle Bobby Lykes-Knight
was named the Jermaine Hopkins
Defensive Lineman of the Game. Lykes-Knight
played 45 snaps after missing the
previous two games. He had three
total tackles.
Earning scout-team honors for their
performances during the week were
redshirt freshman tight end Patrick
Bellish (offense), freshman
defensive lineman Chase Lemke
(defense) and freshman cornerback
Bryan Gaiters (special teams).
Senior offensive guard Brad Samsa was named the Haines Family
Player of the Game by the YSU radio
broadcast crew. Senior wide receiver
Nick Canterino was the recipient of
the Wachovia Leadership Award.
YSU is off this Saturday before
traveling to Western Illinois on
Saturday, Nov. 22.
