Football:
Coach Jon Heacock to Participate in
Crane Fundraiser
Youngstown – Youngstown
State head football coach Jon
Heacock will take part in the Ohio
Valley Teen Challenge's Crane
Fundraiser this Friday from 4-5 p.m.
in the parking lot of the Boardman
Chick-fil-A. Heacock will spend one
hour in a crane perched six stories
off the ground to help raise money
for the organization's Men's
Residential Center.
The annual crane fundraiser is a
24-hour event that starts on Friday,
June 12 at 1 p.m. Heacock will join
Pastor Roy Barnett, Pastor Kevin
Rauch, staff and board members and
various local celebrities in being
raised 60 feet in the crane. The
fundraiser also features corn hole
tournaments, live music, concessions
and a prayer tent.
Sponsorships are available for $4
per minute or various time
allotments -- five, 10, 15, 30, 60
or 100 -- have been created. Funds
raised at the event will help offset
start up costs of a new residential
men's center.
The Ohio Valley Teen Challenge was
created to help people become
mentally sound, emotionally
balanced, socially adjusted,
physically well and spiritually
alive; and to develop a spiritual
foundation on which to build healthy
relationships with their family,
church, career and local community.
Teen Challenge has been reaching out
to men, women and children in the
Youngstown community for more than
25 years as a crisis and referral
center. On March 16, the OVTC Men's
Residential Center opened in the
former Cafaro/Youngstown Osteopathic
Hospital on the city's north side.
