2008: Appeared in three games and was starting punter at Western Illinois...took over for injured punter Ben Nowicki against Indiana State and earned Conference Special Teams Player-of-the-Week honors...had nine punts for 336 yards...averaged 37.3 yards per boot...placed four inside the opposition's 20-yard line...against the Sycamores had 34-yard punt downed at the seven, had a 44-yarder returned to the 16 and had a 22-yarder downed at the 18...at Western Illinois punted four times for an average of 37.2 yards...had a 46-yarder in the game...had two punts for an average of 43.5 yards at Ohio State...kicked a season-long 50-yarder against the Buckeyes...earned his first letter.

 

2007: Appeared in two games as a reserve punter...had three punts for 99 yards, an average of 33.0 per kick...had a 36-yard punt against Stony Brook...had two punts for 63 yards against Lock Haven...placed one punt inside the 20 versus the Bald Eagles...one of six true freshmen to see playing time...posted a 4.0 grade-point average in the fall and spring semesters...Named to Gateway Honor Roll.

 

High School: Played four positions for the Spartans...was punter, placekicker, defensive end and tight end...set a school record with a 69-yard punt...named All-Federal League...coach was D.J. Olgilvie...captain on the basketball squad...also competed in track and field...earned nine letters.


Personal: Parents are Jan and Dr. Robert Johnson...has a brother and a sister...born August 24, 1988...academic interest is biology/pre-med...earned Leslie Cochran University Scholarship to YSU.
