Assistant Coach
First Season

Eugene Crosby,
who spent the 2008 season as a graduate assistant at Division II-power Delta
State, joins the Youngstown State staff as an assistant coach. Crosby will help
assist the offensive staff and oversee the video operations for the program.
Last year, Crosby was on the staff at Delta State, which
advanced to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals. For Coach Ron Roberts, Crosby
was the video coordinator and coached the running backs. DSU went 10-2 on the
season losing to North Alabama in the quarterfinals of the playoffs. The
Statesmen were ranked seventh in the final AFCA poll and won the Gulf South
Conference championship.
Prior to his stint at Delta State, he spent one season as an
assistant video coordinator at Oregon State. His responsibilities for the
Beavers included the filming of practices and games, as well as breaking down
video on the opposition.
He spent three seasons as the offensive line coach and
athletic department video coordinator at Hiram College from 2004-06. In 2003, he
coached the offensive line at W&J.
Crosby was a standout center at Washington and Jefferson from
1996-99. He
was a two-time All-PAC selection, earning first-team honors as a senior in 1999.
That season the Presidents were 9-3 and advanced to the Division III playoffs.
A native of Erie, Pa., Crosby earned his degree from W&J in
history in 2000. He is pursuing a master's degree in Health, Physical Education
and Recreation.
