Men's Golf: Ross Beal Ties For Second at Joe Cole Invitational
Avon, Ohio – Sophomore men's golfer Ross Beal tied for second with the
Detroit's Sean Hutchinson at the Joe Cole/Cleveland State Invitational which
concluded on Tuesday at the Red Tail Golf Club. Beal and Hutchinson finished
with three-round scores of 230, but Oakland's Brian Stuard was too much for both
players winning the event with a 221.
As a team, YSU finished fifth out of seven schools with a
three-round total of 998 (342-330-326). Detroit won the event with a 941 while
Oakland was second, Cleveland State was third and IPFW was fourth.
Beal carded rounds of 79, 79 and 72 during the event. His
score of 72 on Tuesday was the low round of the afternoon. Nate Komsa finished
28th with a 253 (87-82-84), Kyle Romig placed 33rd with a 257 (87-86-84), while
Josh Zarlenga (90-83-88) and Ryan McGraw (89-86-86) tied for 35th place. YSU had
two golfers compete as individual's. Jim Powers finished 21st with 250
(86-81-86) and Carmen DiPenti was 34th with a 260 (86-88-86).
The Penguins return to action on April 25 when they compete
at the Dayton Spring Invitational.
