Men's Golf: YSU Ninth at Final Meet Before League Championships
Centerville, Ohio -- The Youngstown State men's golf
team finished ninth at the 10-team Dayton Spring Invitational in their final
match before the Horizon League Championships which begin on Monday. As a team,
YSU finished with a three-round score of 967, while Horizon League member
UW-Green Bay won the event carding an 899.
Junior Nate Komsa was the Penguins' top finisher placing 24th
with a three-round score of 238 (78-78-82). Other finishers for YSU included
Josh Zarlenga who tied for 27th finishing one shot behind Komsa with a 239
(78-82-79), Jim Powers who placed 41st with a 249 (92-81-76), Ross Beal who was
45th with a 250 (86-80-84) and Kyle Romig who finished 53rd with a 261
(83-94-84).
YSU returns to the course on Monday for the first two rounds
of the Horizon League Championships at the Royal American Country Club in
Galena, Ohio.
