Men’s Golf: Powers Leads Way As Men's Golf Concludes Season at PSU
Intercollegiate
State College,
Pa. -- Senior Jim Powers placed
14th in his final collegiate meet to
lead the Youngstown State men's golf
team to a ninth-place finish at the
12-team Penn State/Rutherford
Intercollegiate which concluded on
Sunday.
Powers finished with a three-round
score of 229 to finish in a tie with
Penn State's Harvin Groft for 14th
place. Powers, who had one an eagle
and nine birdies during the event,
had rounds of 78, 71 and 80 for the
Penguins. PSU's Robert Rohanna won
the event with a 217.
In the team race, Penn State won
with an 894. The Penguins had rounds
of 311, 309 and 329 to finish with a
949. Scores for Sunday's third round
were higher because of windy
conditions at PSU's Blue Golf
Course.
Other finishers for the Guins were
sophomore Ryan Stocke who was 23rd
with a 234 (75-76-83), junior Ryan
McGraw who placed 39th while carding
a 240 (79-80-81), junior Ross Beal
(80-84-85) and freshman Tim Morrow
(79-82-88) tied for 59th at 249.
