Men’s Golf: Stocke Places Second,
Guins Take Fourth at Detroit
Invitational
Plymouth, Mich. –
YSU junior golfer
Ryan Stocke took second place while
the men’s golf team finished in
fourth at the Detroit Titan
Invitational which concluded on
Saturday at
Golden Fox Golf Club.
Stocke lead the way for the
Penguins finishing in second only
one stroke behind medalist Mark
Sommerfeld of Detroit, carding a
three round total of 214 (72-73-69).
Stocke trailed Sommerfeld by six
strokes entering today's round
before carding a 69 to put the heat
on. His 69 was the low round of the
day.
Freshman Spenser Sulzener finished in 18th after firing a
three-round total of 228 (80-74-74).
Also contributing for the Guins were senior Ross Beal,
sophomore Tim Morrow and freshman
Michael Turner. Beal had a
three-round total of 229 (76-76-77),
which was good for 21st. Morrow
finished in 34th place scoring a 235
(84-74-77). Turner finished the
event in 38th place after shooting a
237 (77-82-78).
Entering the final round the Penguins were tied for third,
but could not catch Detroit.
Finishing behind Detroit was Loyola
(Md.) in second and
Cleveland State in third place.
The Penguins are off until April 26
when they take part in the
Kent State First
Energy Invitational at Windmill
Lakes Golf Club.
