Men’s Golf: Penguins Tie For Seventh at Season-Opening John Piper

men's golf team tied
for seventh at the Bowling Green
State University John Piper
Invitational, which concluded on
Tuesday. YSU tied Horizon League
member Detroit for seventh out of 15
teams. Last year, YSU finished 13th
at the event.
YSU
carded a
three-round total of 898 finishing
with rounds of 293, 295 and 310.
Eastern Kentucky won the event with
a total team score of 844 and host, BGSU,
finished in second with a total of
858 team points.
Junior Ryan Stocke and senior Ross
Beal each tied for 14th. Stocke, shot 72,
73 and 75 for a total of 220. Beal's combined three-day scores
included rounds of 71, 72, and 77.
Other Guin golfers competing in the
event were sophomore Tim Morrow,
sophomore Jon Hamarik
and senior Ryan McGraw. Morrow
placed 24th with a three-round total
of 225 (74-73-78) while Hamarik shot
a 234 (76-78-80) and McGraw fired a
239 (79-77-83).
Next up for the Penguins will be
Sept. 17-18, in Cincinnati for the UC
Bearcats Fall Invitational.
