Men’s Golf: Stocke Named to Horizon All-League Team; Turner All-Tournament

Lebanon, Ohio -- For the second straight year, YSU junior men’s golfer Ryan Stocke (Elida, Ohio) was named First-Team All-Horizon League, while freshman Michael Turner (Baden, Pa.) was named to the All-Tournament Team after his sixth-place finish at the HL Championships, the league announced on Tuesday.

This season for the Guins, Stocke competed in all the events the team has participated in. Stocke played in 34 rounds, had a total of 2,480 strokes in those events, and his season average was a team-low 72.9. His season-low round was a 68 at IPFW Fall Classic. He joins Nate Komsa as the only two Penguins to earn Horizon League honors twice in a career.

Joining Stocke on the All-League Team were Cleveland State golfers Doug Barber and Jake Scott, Detroit’s David Byrne and Mark Sommerfeld, Green Bay golfer Travis Meyer, Armando Favela from Loyola, and Wright State’s Tyler Miskell.

Turner earned a spot on the Horizon League All-Tournament team after finishing his freshman season with an impressive sixth-place finish at the Horizon League Championships. Turner’s three-round total at the event was a 223 (75-74-74).
