Women's Golf: YSU Opens Spring Schedule at NIU Springlake Meet
Sebring, Fla. -- The Youngstown State women's golf
team opened their 2005 spring season by finishing 17th out of 20 teams at the
Northern Illinois Springlake Intercollegiate which concluded on Saturday at the
Springlake Golf Resort and Country Club. YSU finished with a two-round score of
673 firing rounds of 335 and 338.
The Penguins were led by Florida native Brittany Jones who
placed 37th in the event. Jones had rounds of 79 and 81 to finish with a 160.
Senior Gina Abruzzion was 51st with a 162 (81-81), sophomore Bonnie Sherman shot
a 169 (84-85), freshman Mallory Wyderka had a 185 (91-94) to place 101st while
freshman Felicia Ciotola carded a 188 (97-91). Freshman Kristen Albrecht had a
174 (91-83) to place 90th competing as an individual.
Youngstown State returns to action on Monday when they begin
competition in the two-day Butler North-South Intercollegiate.
