Women's Golf: YSU Concludes Florida Trip at Marshall/El Diablo

Citrus Springs, Fla. -- The Youngstown State women's
golf team concluded their week-long trip to Florida with a 13th-place finish at
the fourth annual Marshall Lady Herd/El Diablo Intercollegiate at the El Diablo
Golf and Country Club in Citrus Springs, Fla. The final round of the 54-hole
event was held on Tuesday.
YSU posted a three-round score of 1,009 (333-340-336), but
Maryland won the event with a 916. Florida Atlantic was second with a 925 while
Missouri State finished third with a 938.
For the third time in as many tournaments this spring,
sophomore Adrianna DiLonardo was the Penguins' top finisher. DiLonardo was
consistent throughout the tournament with rounds of 84, 83 and 82 for a
three-round total of 249. Here rounds were good enough to tie her for 38th
place. Florida Atlantic's June Bolme took medalist honors with a three-round
220.
Freshman Amanda Brindley shot YSU's lowest final round
finishing with an 80 on Tuesday. Brindley had rounds of 84 and 91 on Monday to
give her a three-round score of 255 and a 52nd-place finish.
Sophomores Brittany Jones and Felicia Ciotola tied for 62nd
after each individual had a three-round score of 259. Jones started out hot with
a 79 following the first round and was tied for 12th. However, rounds of 85 and
95 dropped her to 62nd place. Ciotola rebounded from an opening round 93 with an
82 and an 84 to shot 259.
Freshman Mollie Boney was 71st with a three-round total of
266 (86-90-90).
After the first 18 holes, YSU was tied for 11th place with
Boston College, but dropped two spots in the final 36 holes.
The Penguins return to action on April 10-11 when they travel
to Chicago to compete in the Loyola Invitational at Winnetka Golf Course.
