Women's Golf: Penguins Wind Up in 14th Place at NIU Snowbird Invitational
Tampa, Fla. -- The Youngstown State women's golf team
continued its annual spring trip to Florida with a 14th-place finish at the
Northern Illinois Snowbird Invitational, which was held on Wednesday and
Thursday at Pebblecreek Golf and Country Club.
The Penguins carded a two-round score of 667 (337-330) for
the event. Bradley won the 15-school invitational with an impressive 609, while
Gonzaga was second and Weber State placed third.
Leading the way for YSU for the second time in as many
tournaments was sophomore Adrianna DiLonardo. DiLonardo had a solid 77 in the
first round tying her for seventh place with four other golfers, but a
second-round 85 dropped her back to 37th for the event with a 162. Bradley's
Meaghan LeBlanc took medalists honors with a 144, winning by five strokes.
Other finishers for the Penguins were sophomore Brittany
Jones who was 52nd with a 165 (84-81), Felicia Ciotola who placed 57th with a
167 (88-79), freshman Mollie Boney who finished 68th with a 171 (85-86),
freshman Amanda Brindley who was 76th with a 173 (88-85), sophomore Kristen
Albrecht who placed 83rd with a 181 (95-86) and junior Bonnie Sherman who
finished 87th carding a 187 (95-92).
The Penguins return to action on Monday when they compete in
the Marshall Lady Herd/El Diablo Intercollegiate in Citrus Springs, Fla.
