Women's Golf: Penguins Named Horizon League Co-Players of the Week
Youngstown -- Penguin golfers, Mollie Boney and Katie Rogner were named Horizon League co-Players of the Week following the first week of the fall season, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Boney, a junior, and Rogner, a freshman, each tallied 156-stroke totals as Youngstown State claimed the title at its own fall invitational.  Rogner paced the Penguins in the opening round with a 76 and Boney capped the victory with a team best final round of 76. The two players were part of a four-way tie for second place.

As a team, YSU picked up its first tournament win since April 2005.

Last year, Boney had an overall average of 87.8 strokes per 18 holes. Notably, her lowest score a 77 at the North/South Intercollegiate Tournament. This was her first career place in the top three of any tournament she has competed for YSU.
Rogner was competing in her first collegiate event.

Rogner, a freshman from Warren, Ohio (Warren JFK) was a first team All-Ohio selection in 2006, finished fourth at the OHSAA State Division I Golf Tournament.  A four-time team MVP, she was the Steel Valley Conference medalist three years of her career with JFK.

YSU will shoot for another tournament crown September 23 and 24 at the St. Francis (Pa.) Fall Invitational.
