Women’s Golf: YSU Signs
Pennsylvania Standout Samantha
Formeck
Youngstown State Women's Golf
Coach Roseann Schwartz announced
on Wednesday that Samantha
Formeck of Northern Cambria,
Pa., has signed a National
Letter of Intent to become part
of the program.
Formeck will come to YSU
next fall following a stellar
High School career. In the past
two years she finished in the
top 10 at the PIAA
Championships.
As a senior, Formeck placed
eighth at the state meet carding
a two-round score of 154 (72-82)
at the Heritage Hills Golf
Resort in York, Pa.
She won the District 6
Championship by nine strokes
after firing a two-round score
of 150 (82-72). Prior to the
District meet she took home
medalist honors the Heritage
Conference Golf Championship
with a 76, four strokes ahead of
her closest competitor.
As a junior and a senior she
was selected as a Heritage
Conference All-Star.
Formeck produced her best
finish at state her junior year.
She tied for fourth place after
carding a two-round score of 155
at the Heritage Hills Golf
Resort.
Her coach at Northern
Cambria was Gregg Welteroth.
Last summer, Formeck
competed in the 59th U.S. Junior
Girls' Championship at the
Tacoma Country and Golf Club in
Tacoma, Wash. She finished with
a two-round score of 159 after
carding rounds of 76 and 83.
