Women’s Golf: YSU
Six Strokes Off Pace At Horizon
League Championships
Carmel, Ind. – The
Youngstown State women’s golf team
is in second place, six stroked
behind leader Butler after the first
two rounds of the Horizon League
Championships at Plum Creek Golf
Club. The final 18 holes is
scheduled for Sunday.
The Penguins grabbed the opening
round lead carding a 324 to go shots
in front of the Bulldogs. During the
second round, Butler fired a 316
while the Guins again had a 324.
After two rounds the Penguins are at
648 while Butler is in first at 642.
Detroit is third with a 664.
Leading the way for Youngstown State
was freshman Katie Rogner. Rogner is
tied for second place with Detroit's
Rachel McHenry. Both competitors
carded a 158 and trail Butler's
Lauren Showers by just two strokes
entering the final round.
Rogner had rounds of 78 and 80 to
move into second place.
Senior Adrianna DiLonardo is tied for sixth place with a
two-round score of 162 (79-83).
Junior Mollie Boney is tied for
eighth with a 163. Boney had rounds
of 83 and 80 making her first
appearance at the Horizon League
Tournament.
Senior Brittany Jones rebounded from
a first-round 87 to shot 81 in the
second round and is tied for 11th
with her 168. Senior Felicia Ciotola
is tied for 14th with a 169 after
shoting rounds of 84 and 85.
The final round is set for 8 a.m. on
Sunday. Rogner is in the final
pairing of the morning teeing off
with McHenry and Showers at 9:10
a.m. |
