Women’s Golf: Rogner,
Penguins Capture First Place in the
Loyola Invite
Mundelein, Ill. --
The
Youngstown State women's golf team
took home first place in the Loyola
Caputo Invitational at Pine Meadow
Golf Course. Freshman Katie Rogner
lead the way with a first-place
finish shooting a 152 (76-76).
Entering Tuesday's
final round the Guins held a narrow
one stroke lead, but won the event
by 12 strokes ahead of host Loyola
with a 648. Loyola finished with a
660, followed by Detroit, IPFW, and
Green Bay.
Rogner took home medalist honors, but great contributions
from the entire team lead to the
victory. Senior Brittany Jones
placed in fourth with a two round
total of 163 (80-83). Right behind
Jones in fifth was sophomore
Brittany Stillwagon who carded a 164
(81-83).
In 11th place was senior Adrianna DiLonardo who fired a 171
(90-81). Felicia Ciotola shot a 185
(88-97) that was good for 27th
place. Junior Mollie Boney competed
in the event as an individual, but
placed seventh shooting 167 (81-86).
It was the third tournament victory for the Penguins this
year. YSU won the Youngstown State
Invitational and the Saint Francis
(Pa.) Invitational in the fall.
The women will resume play when they participate in the
Horizon League Championships on
April 26 and 27 in Carmel, Ind.
