Women's Golf: YSU Claims Second Tournament Crown in a Row
Loretto, Pa. -- After two complete rounds of play at
the St. Francis (Pa.) Red Flash
Invitational, the YSU women's golf
team
claimed their second tournament
crown in a row, a first in the
program's history.
Impressively, all seven Penguins finished in the
top 10 of the tournament. Freshman Katie Rogner led the team
finishing in second place (161),
senior Brittany Jones placed third
(165), senior Adrianna DiLonardo
finished
fourth (168), junior Mollie Boney
and sophomore Brittany Stillwagon
tied for fifth (169), Ann Ciavarella
tied for seventh (170), and Felicia
Ciotola finished in ninth place (174).
After the first round of play on
Sunday, all Penguins
finished within the top 12, which
gave YSU
a sizeable lead to finish strong
on Monday and easily claim the tournament.
Youngstown State finished the tournament
carding a two-round total of 653. Final points placed the team 46
strokes ahead of second-place team
and host, St. Francis (699).
Also finishing in the tournament was
Robert Morris in third (712) and
Mount St. Mary's in fourth (740).
Next up for YSU will be a trip to
Waynesville, N.C., for the Great Smokies Intercollegiate Tournament.
