Women's
Golf: Stillwagon, Formeck Named to
NGCA Scholar Athlete Team
Coral Spring, Fla. -- The Youngstown State women's golf
program had two student-athletes
named to the National Golf Coaches
Association All-American Scholar
Team the organization announced
today. Junior Brittany Stillwagon
(Bloomingdale, Ohio) and freshman
Samantha Formeck (Northern Cambria,
Pa.) were among a group of 410
Division I, II and III women's
golfers named to the NGCA team.
Overall nearly 275 Division I
athletes were selected.
Stillwagon, who finished second at the 2009 Horizon League
Championships, has a 3.64
grade-point average as an electrical
engineering major. Formeck, who took
home medalist honors at the Horizon
League Championships as a freshman,
posted two perfect 4.0 semesters her
first year as a chemistry major.
The criteria for selection to the All-America
Scholar Team are some of the most
stringent in college athletics. The
minimum grade-point average is 3.50
and student-athletes must have
competed in at least 50 percent of
the school's regular scheduled
competitive rounds during the year.
The
National Golf Coaches Association,
founded in 1983, is a non-profit
organization representing women’s
collegiate golf coaches. Today, the
NGCA represents nearly 500 coaches
throughout the U.S. and is dedicated
to educating, promoting and
recognizing both its members and the
student-athletes they represent. |
