Penguins Improve Every Round, Finish 12th at Nittany Lion Invite
University Park, Pa. -- The Youngstown State women's golf team finished round three strong as they improved their team round total by eight strokes from the first round, en route to a 12th place finish on Sunday at the Nittany Lion Women's Invitational.
The Penguins finished the event with a three-round total of 956 (322-320-314). Leading the way was sophomore Samantha Formeck, who tied for 13th with a score of 233 (78-78-77).
Senior Ann Ciavarella was the Penguins next best finisher, carding a 238 (81-80-77) to claim 37th. Three strokes behind with a 241 (82-81-78) was senior Brittany Stillwagon, who finished in 49th.
Junior Katie Rogner fired a 244 to finish tied for 54th. Rounding out the event was freshman Sarah Heimlich with a three-round total of 263 (85-86-92) to finish in 84th.
Rollings College won the event after shooting a 909. Host Penn State finished in second, while Eastern Michigan took third.
The Penguins are right back in action on Monday when the take part in the two-day, 54-hole Akron Invitational.
