Men's Basketball to Hold Second Annual Coaches vs. Cancer WALK

Youngstown  --  In conjunction with the American Cancer Society, the Youngstown State men’s basketball team is hosting its Second Annual Coaches vs. Cancer WALK, Saturday, Oct. 3 at the YSU Track and Field Complex.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the WALK starts at 9 a.m. Participation is $5 per person.

Last year's Coaches vs. Cancer WALK raised more than $1,600 for the American Cancer Society.

“This is a tremendous event for our basketball program to be a part of, not only to raise money, but also to raise cancer awareness,” YSU Head Coach Jerry Slocum said. “A couple of good friends of our program are facing tough battles against this disease and it really hit close to home. We want to make every effort to help them overcome and defeat this illness.”

Coaches vs. Cancer is a joint effort by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and communities to help win the fight against cancer.
