Played in all 31 games, appearing in the starting lineup twice...started against Slippery Rock and Loyola...played a total of 328 minutes, averaging 10.6 per contest...season high was 39 in home win over Loyola...played double figures in minutes 15 times...scored 24 points while grabbing 34 rebounds and dishing out 38 assists...also had four steals...was 5-of-27 from the field while making three 3-pointers...made 3-pointers at Ohio State, against Loyola and at Detroit...played both the two-guard and point positions...had season highs with seven points and six rebounds in victory over Loyola...scored five points and grabbed five rebounds in win over Wright State...attempted a career-high nine free throws, making five against the Raiders...grabbed four boards at Butler and against UW-Green Bay...dished out at least three assists on six occasions...had a season-high five against Loyola...had four in win over UIC and home tournament win against Detroit...had an assist in 19 games...attempted two shots on eight occasions...made a season-high two against Loyola...snatched steals against Slippery Rock, Lock Haven, Wright State and at Loyola...earned his second letter.

 

2005-06 | Freshman
Played in 24 games, starting in the Horizon League Tournament at Loyola...scored 24 points and grabbed 20 rebounds...played a total of 178 minutes, averaging 7.4 minutes per contest...played double digits in minutes on seven occasions...played both the two-guard and point positions...was 8-of-14 from the field and 4-of-8 from behind the 3-point arc...was 4-of-7 at the free-throw line...had 11 assists and five steals...scored a season-high seven points, grabbed a season-best four rebounds and dished out a season-high four assists in regular-season finale versus Loyola...played 26 minutes of that contest...made two key free throws in the final seconds of regulation to put the Guins up by three points...made two field goals on twice -- vs. Loyola and at Akron...made 3-pointers against Eastern Michigan, at UW-Milwaukee, at UW-Green Bay against the Ramblers...played 20 minutes at UW-Milwaukee...had two assists against Slippery Rock and at UW-Milwaukee...had four steals against Slippery Rock...also had a steal at Cleveland State...scored four points at Akron and three on three occasions...earned his first letter.

Played point guard at Sammon Lukio High School for Coach Kimmo ‘Knossos’ Kujansivu…was most recently a member of the Finland Under-20 National Team…Finland placed in the top 10 at the 2005 European “B” Championships in Bulgaria…selected to the all-star team in European Championship Qualifying round in 2001…helped team win the Finnish A-Championship with his junior team in 2002…averaged 18 and 6.3 rebounds throughout that tournament…served a year in the Finnish Military from May 2004 through May 2005…also played soccer and hockey growing up.

Parents are Ismo and Auli Niemi…has two sisters…born on May 12, 1985…major is Psychology…first Finnish player to be part of the program since junior college transfer Kimmo Henionen in 1991-92 and 1992-93...can speak three languages fluently (English, Finnish and Swedish).
