Soccer: YSU Drops Season Opener to Akron, 3-1
    Akron, Ohio -- The Youngstown State Soccer team lost their season opener to Akron on Friday night losing to the Zips 3-1 at the Caroline Pardee Invitational.
    Youngstown State's Jenny Jacobs gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead at 64:46 scoring off an assist from Kim Jugenheimer. The Zips rallied scoring three goals in the next 15 minutes to earn their first-ever victory. Jeannie Stuckey scored two goals and Samantha Lytle added the third.
    Akron outshot the Penguins 14-10 and outcornered YSU 7-1. Senior goalkeeper Christine Handte had two saves playing the first half. Freshman keeper Mia Railing had two saves but allowed three goals in the final half.
    YSU will play Canisius at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Canisius lost to Howard 3-0 in Friday's first game.
