Soccer: YSU Drops Wild 5-4 Contest to IUPUI
Indianapolis, Ind. -- The
Youngstown State soccer team almost
rallied from a 5-2 deficit, but came
up just short in a 5-4 loss to IUPUI
on Friday night.
The Penguins trailed 3-0 before two goals by Lauren Roseman
brought them within 3-2. After IUPUI
goals by Sarah Leonard, her third of
the game, and Angie Volovich, also
her second of the game, YSU scored
two goals in 77 seconds when Kara
White and Kate McHugh added goals.
For McHugh it was the first goal of
her career and came at 84:01 of the
match. YSU freshman Chantel Grooms
had three assists and White scored
on a free kick.
The Jaguars (2-9) outshot YSU 20-11, but the Penguins (1-13)
held the edge in corner kicks 5-2.
Christine Handte had four saves
allowing five goals and freshman Mia
Railing added two for YSU.
The four goals scored by the Penguins were the most in a game
since a 4-1 win over Morehead State
on Sept. 4, 1999. |
