Soccer: Akron Defeats YSU, 6-0
Youngstown --
Abigail Holzworth scored three goals and had one
assist to lead the Akron Zips to a
6-0 victory over the Youngstown
State Women's Soccer team on Friday
afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.
Akron's Sarah Artuso scored the Zips first goal of the
contest at 5:20 and Jeannie Stuckey
added the second goal of the game
off an assist from Elizabeth Riggs
at 9:55. The Penguin defense
held the Zips for 20 minutes before
Katie Duracky scored off of a cross
from Stucky.
Akron outshot Youngstown State 18-10 and outcornered the
Penguins 5-0. Senior Lauren Roseman
took four shots for the Penguins.
With the loss Youngstown State falls to 1-13 on the season.
Akron improves to 5-8-1 with the
win.
The Penguins return to action on Sunday, Oct. 18, when they
play host to the University of
Toledo at noon at Stambaugh Stadium. |
