Soccer: Penguins Lose Home Opener in OT
Youngstown --
IUPUI’s Tara Latella scored two goals, including one
in overtime, to lift the Jaguars to
a 2-1 victory over the Youngstown
State Women’s Soccer team on Friday
afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.
Freshman Maura Patton gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead going into
halftime when she scored her fourth
career goal at 33:30 off an assist
from junior Kara White. Latella
scored her first goal to tie the
game at 67:29.
The Jaguars outshot the Penguins 29-14 and outcornered YSU
8-2. Freshman goalkeeper Caitlin
Bestard recorded 17 saves for the
Penguins. With the loss, YSU drops
to 1-3 on the season. IUPUI improves
to 2-4 with the win.
The Penguins return to action on Sunday, September 15 when
they play at Robert Morris
University at 3 p.m. |
