Raiders Shut Out Penguins, 6-0
Hamilton, N.Y. - The
Youngstown State Soccer team fell to
1-5 on the season after dropping
their match to Colgate, 6-0, on
Sunday afternoon at Van Doren Field.
Kate Barrett led the Raider attack with three goals and an
assist. The Raiders jumped out early
scoring three goals in the first
13:30. Carolyn Warhaftig
started the scoring at 3:54 when she
took a feed from Barrett and slotted
it past the keeper.
Barrett then scored two
straight to put the Raiders up
three. With just under a minute left
in the first half Meredith Rovelli
tallied her first collegiate goal
off a pass from freshman Tara Meyer
putting the Raiders up by four
heading to halftime.
The Raiders dominated throughout registering 17 shots on
goal, while the Penguins recorded
zero. Colgate outcornered
Youngstown 12-1. Sophomore
Caitlin Bestard collected nine saves
for Youngstown State.
The Penguins return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 17 when
they travel to Cullowhee, N.C., to
play Western Carolina at 4 p.m. |
