Cats Blank Penguins, 2-0

WCU's Stephanie Svoboda scored one goal and recorded one assist as she led Western Carolina to a 2-0 victory over the Youngstown State Soccer team on Wednesday afternoon at Schrader Field.
    Western Carolina scored two goals in the first half of play and the Catamount defense shutdown the Penguins for the rest of the match.  WCU got on the scoreboard at 5:22 when Svoboda scored off a pass from Meghan Reilly.  Lauren Branlett added the second goal of the game from five yards out at 14:20.
    The Catamounts outshot the Penguins 25-7 and outcornered YSU, 4-1.  Junior keeper Mia Railing collected nine saves for Youngstown State. 
    With the loss the Penguins fall to 1-6 on the season and Western Carolina improves to 2-3-1.
    The Penguins return to action on Sunday, Sept. 21, when they travel to Columbus to battle No. 24 ranked Ohio State at noon at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
