YSU Suffers 3-1 Loss to Wright State

The Raider's Becky Belcher scored on a penalty kick with almost five minutes remaining before halftime to help lead Wright State over the Youngstown State soccer team, 3-1, in Horizon League action on Sunday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium. 
   
At 59:12 sophomore Jessica Yarter connected with the net off a throw in from senior Kara White to tie up the game at one.  The tie was short-lived when Rose Nigro scored from 10 yards out off a pass from Laura Monterosso at 61:48 to give the Raiders the lead.  Wright State finished up the scoring at 81:51 when Erin Lustic scored off a cross from Belcher.
    Wright State outshot Youngstown State 21-5 and outcornered the Penguins, 9-0.  Junior keeper Mia Railing made nine saves for YSU.  With the loss, the Penguins fall to 1-13 overall and 0-3 in the Horizon League, with the win Wright State improves to  7-8-1 overall and 3-3 in the league.
    The Penguins return to action on Friday, Oct. 24, when they travel to UW-Green Bay for a night cap at 7 p.m.
