Penguins Comeback Falls Short to Detroit, 3-2
    Youngstown --
Freshman Brittny Humphrey's two second-half goals keyed a Youngstown State comeback that fell short in a 3-2 loss to Detroit on Friday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.
Despite trailing 3-0 heading into the second half, YSU scored its first goal of the season when Humphrey connected with the net off of her own rebound shot. The Penguins cut the lead down to one when Humphrey scored her second career goal at 70:55 off a breakaway from sophomore Katie Duracky.
Detroit got on the scoreboard at 24:54 when Elizabeth Hardy scored off a pass from Mary Parker. Less then four minutes later, Allison Bullard added the Titans second goal off a corner kick from Hardy. Parker scored the Titans' third and final goal of the game off an assist from Bianca Savarino and Mandi Jasky at 36:22 for a 3-0 advantage.
Detroit outshot YSU 20-11 and outcornered the Penguins 5-1. Junior goalkeeper Caitlin Bestard collected 13 saves for YSU.
With the loss, the Penguins fall to 0-2-1 overall on this season, while Detroit improves to 2-1.
The Penguins return to action on Sept. 10 when they travel to Raleigh, N.C., for the NC State Summit Hospitality Invitational. YSU is slated to play UNC-Wilmington at 1 p.m. on Sept. 10 and NC State on Sept. 12, at 2:30 p.m
