Seahawks Topple Penguins,
8-0
Raleigh, N.C. -- The Youngstown
State soccer team dropped its third
straight match this season after
suffering a 8-0 loss to
UNC-Wilmington in the first day of
competition at NC State
Summit Hospitality Classic on Friday afternoon.
The Penguins allowed only one goal in the first half, but
UNCW connected with the net seven
times in the second half to help
secure the victory.
Youngstown had a chance early in the 12th minute when
midfielder Brittny Humphrey took a
shot from 15 yards center, but was
saved by the Seahawks' Tiffany
Langford. Katie Duracky and Sadie
Brookman each had a shot on goal,
all stopped by Langford.
The Seahawks outshot the Penguins 24-6 and outcornered YSU
9-5. Junior keeper Caitlin
Bestard recorded seven saves.
The Penguins return to action on Sunday, Sept. 12 when they
play host team NC State at 2:30 p.m.
Sundays games will be played at
Method Road Stadium on the NCSU
campus. |
